We’re not free to leave Earth; does that mean we don’t have freedom? Freedomtonians will still be free, they’ll just be free inside a smaller world than ours. They have a minority viewpoint—that cooperative society is not a worthwhile enterprise and life should be every man for himself—so if they want to live in a world where their views can be fully acted out, they have to secede from the world that’s serving the needs of the majority and choose a smaller one to inhabit. A world about the size of Texas.
